The golden rule for Trump cronies: you either reach a breaking point and abandon him, or fall apart trying to defend the indefensible... and Giuilani has clearly held on past that breaking point.
There is a rather simple reason for this unknown because it is wrapped in an enigma involving the fact that the opposites of heads and tails are attached to the same coin, easily seen when described with coins, but very much hidden when it comes to seeing such phenomena in the self. That, the self we imagine ourselves to be, is what I refer to as the ego, and is a defense mechanism, an artificial self, a psychic capitulation, an imaginary image we carry of ourselves based on violently inculcated moral codes of behavior designed to produce conformity.
The promise was that by adherence to those very imaginary standards we were taught to believe would grant us safety as social beings and make us worthy of praise and love. Any deviation from them would lead to punishment, banishment, and damnation. But the promise was never to be fully trusted because there were always some new, unknown, and surprising rule we didn't know about we would break, or that because our guardians knew nothing of real love could never apply consistently. One side result was that punishment could often become the only attention we could guarantee we would ever receive.
And all these phony standards of correct behavior were the same ones our guardians were taught, with the same violent inculcation and which their guardians in turn hoped to save them.
This is why, in sick cultures we see constellations of similar sick behaviors.
So the price of our accepted entry into society, the joining of the tribe, the cult, the nation and all the various isms we feel so proud to be an exponent of, are all of the constellations of the ego that define the nature of out sickness, and all that we must die to belief in to regain real freedom.
And since we can't do that consciously because we believe all those things to be the foundation of what makes us valuable as people, we do it unconsciously and it is that that is the other side of the coin.
We live with an unconscious death wish that hopes to destroy the ego in order to regain our true selves.
And exactly that is the real aim of religion, the great enlightened experiences of those who have died to themselves and awaken to a knowledge of God, Oneness, and perfection, the goal of our true heart's desire.
It is this unconscious yearning for the death of the ego that causes those with the sickest forms of it to destroy themselves. Having no capacity for humility they conspire unconsciously to seek calumny instead. The act out in ways that bring their downfall and destruction because like the mighty oak that cracks in a storm because it refuses to bend in the wind like the willow.
There is nothing like fame, fortune, and glory to make those who actually feel worthless to backhandedly seek self destruct. It is our self hate that causes us to tempt fate via constant test, to seek endless signs of approval and destroy them when they appear.
"Just my luck and why does this always happen to me." Can you see that it is the idea we are evil that has kicked us out of the Garden of Eden? To eat of the Tree of Knowledge is to buy into the notion of original sin. The sin we can't escape is the arising of the capacity to think in language and to apply the illusions so created into emotional reactions about behavior. It wasn't our behavior that was bad but the self from which those behaviors sprang, our need for love and security. To be safe we were taught never to love again.
