I remember my parents once telling me about a time where they used to give out complementary meals to economy on transcontinental flights in the US. Why not start that again so crazies atleast have somethung to do before getting bored.

On Frontier and Spirit they're lucky passengers aren't charged extra for cabin pressurization and to use the lavs.

I don't understand people who can't handle their alcohol and turn into pieces of shit. They ruin it for the rest of us that just want a little drink here and there as it just leads to stricter rules about alcohol. I would not blame airlines for just banning alcohol because of incidents like this.

I think the flight attendants did what they could with the resources they had. He's lucky it was not a police altercation, he'd probably be dead or have a permanent brain injury.

Should have taped him to the outside of the plane instead.

I follow the aviation world a little bit and things are pretty bad in the cabins from what I hear. This is why some airlines still are not serving alcohol.
While I haven't seen anything like this it's clear the average traveler has gotten about 68% dumber. Which I didn't think was possible. The only good news is that it's not just Americans

Mid flight?

That works.

Ban alcohol following the flight, that works. It will save a lot of people on Earth a lot of heartache & grief from now until the end of time.

Prohibition only ended because of selfish greed, not because it was the wrong thing to do.

I read an article the other day about how these morons that have been acting up this year, dramatically increasing the rate of incidents that don't just endanger crew and passenger safety, but create insane delays by requiring a plan to go back to the gate, take off the unruly passenger, potentially have to deboard the whole plane, etc..

The problem is most aren't being punished for it legally because of all the gray area of who has jurisdiction over these types of cases. I mean there was an example of one guy who called in a terrorist threat and had his flight delayed by hours and hours and as of now has basically no charges against him.

Seriously? You seriously think we should bring back prohibition?

It's funny because were in talks to legalize things like harder drugs (or decriminalize it) but you think we should ban alcohol? Most of these things revolve around a cultural problem, where people are asshats and are taught to not feel shame when being an asshat in public.

Well, there's a hot take sure to garner praise 😛

I don't think prohibition was effective in any country that tried it, much like prostitution has always persisted. Humans (generally) like to drink and fuck, and just like any other behavior, some people take things too far for various reasons.
Yes, prohibition was wrong and caused a lot of problems.

The FAA has been fining people a lot this year. They are pushing the no tolerance stance.

When I worked at an airline (as an engineer) I got pretty good at estimating cost of air interrupts to justify reliability projects. After I got a free projects approved with it, the legal department started coming to me to estimate costs for unruly passengers causing air interrupts. We'd send them bills, no idea if they actually ever collected, though

Isn't prohibition pretty effective in the middle east?

Lol I guess in highly oppressive countries with the majority of the populace indoctrinated into a religion that condemns it? How's gay marriage working out there as well?

Overall though it's just not very difficult to make.

That's kind of a broad question, and I absolutely don't think those places are any kind of goal to aspire to (especially if you're into the whole "freedom" thing).

It's not realistic, but yes, alcohol is the silent cause of many many instances of irreversible heartache and loss.

Something as simple as being drunk...

There are other ways of "having fun".

Umm, I disagree with you here.
Something as simple as being drunk was NOT the cause of this situation. There were a multitude of factors here the most important of which was a giant psycho murderer wanted to hurt people.

Do you have any idea how many times people just blame alcohol for their poor behavior the night before? You think shame or being taught whatever it is helps that? With everyone?

The trigger of the whole event was the drunken state she was in and the argument about her flirting with another guy (guess why). The psycho killer who is an employed security guard working for however long without incident, saw this welcome opportunity and took it, which also led to the next kidnapping.

The phrase "victim blaming" is often thrown around as a defense. But let me ask you - would you drive into a bad neighborhood in a convertible flashing whatever it is that would make you easy prey? You can't let your guard down, or make inadvisable decisions. That's what getting drunk does to you.

If alcohol had no positive effect on your mental state, would you guys be so willing to defend it?

Didn't expect anything less than what I'm getting. We're all pointing and laughing at people in videos who can't control themselves. We don't want to point at the elephant in the room... the root cause or trigger of why they do dumb things in each moment. This guy is likely a normal functioning human being otherwise.

to be honest, and I suspected this from the start - I'm not sure if this guy actually was drunk? If you were drunk, then you would realize how stupid you were being once sober - and you wouldn't post these subsequent tweets after the fact:

More hilarity:

Maxwell Berry, 22, was praised for being the 'perfect role model' and balancing academics and a successful golf career during his time at Ohio Wesleyan University, which posted the Zoom awards presentation, which took place in May, online.

The guy in the OP is the type of guy to kick off any time he doesnt get what he wants.
That guy is the problem not the booze.

Booze doesnt grope flight attendants, people grope flight attendants! I may need to work on that slogan!

Supposedly tucked away in the new Democrat reconciliation bill - is requirement for car manufacturers by 2024 to have some kind of technology to detect if a driver is drunk or not.

Will be interesting to see how that works out, because I doubt it would be like...forced breathalyzer for everyone... Maybe camera technology to detect if their face is woozy? Gotta wonder if it false detects from passengers, or if overriding it is as simple as putting a sticky note over the camera....

Maybe we need one for the use of the internet?
