It really depends on how well the stickers are stuck on.
I can "modify" a cube pretty quick !

spray cans work a lot better

I don't get it, is there a specific way of doing it? I turn and turn the thing and it only gets more messed up, not less.

Just remember a few simple things.. the middle pieces never move, the point is to get all other pieces to the same side as their middle piece color. Every time you twist a side, it changes multiple pieces. There are algorithms to just get a specific piece from one location to another without changing the other pieces when the algorithm is complete.

I average 55 seconds.
To the guy who wants to make it spin faster, they sell "cube lube" but all you really need is silicon spray. Take the cube apart and coat all the peices w/ the silicon spray, then put it back together and wipe off the outside. It might not feel great immeadiatley but it will be much better after you work in the silicon for about 5 hours(not at once abviously, although I do know some people that will do the cube for 2 hours or more straight). Anyway, i read your not supposed to use wd40 b/c it breaks down the pastic but i used it once and the cube still works fine.

That's probably a one-handed record. When I was in high school (early 80's), the record was already under 20 seconds. I could routinely do it in well under a minute (30 to 40 seconds), but my hands simply aren't/weren't fast enough to improve by more than a couple seconds on my best time. The current world record is under 10 seconds.

edit: current world record for one handed is 16.36 seconds.
Current world record with feet only : 51.13 seconds.
Current world record for blindfolded (not including time to memorize position) = 23.06 seconds.

No matter how the cube is "scrambled", it can be solved in 26 moves (or less). However, most people use different algorithms to solve the cube.

I average 2 min 30 seconds... The world record is sub 10 seconds... I'm not ready for speedcubing

I do it by layers. Easier algorithms to memorize.
