My prediction: The entire generation will be 2-3X msrp on ebay and at retailers. RTX 3000 series will be sold along side the 4000 series because only a few will be buying RTX 4000 series who are willing to pay $1500 for what should be a $300 RTX 4060. Not enough supply to meet demand by a long shot, pricing will be through the Oort cloud. PC gaming is dead. Your thoughts?

This would also be a perfect match for Optane. Intel might combine their hugely promising Arc cards with their immensely successful Optane to create a killer videocard.

Oh wait.
The only product they had that could push PCIe 4.0 speeds was P5800X, data center class enterprise product!

Actually that would be really neat
An M.2 GPU
But how do you get video out?

- Would be nice if it could be piped to the outputs on the back of a board somehow. Not exactly sure if there is some direct traces involved for iGPs or if the video signal could be rerouted there somehow.

On topic:

Wonder with the EVGA implosion means when it comes to 4xxx series pricing.

There was a LOT of grumbling when the 3xxx series launched from the AIBs who said NV's founders edition MSRP pricing was basically unsustainable for an AIB and that NV was undercutting their own partners.

Something deep in my nuts tells me this falling out between EVGA and NV is an extension of that old issue, exacerbated by a large stockpile of current gen cards that NV is likely telling its board partners to suck up and deal with.

Makes me think that founder's edition pricing on the next gen is actually going to be far more reasonable than many people are suspecting, and AIBs (esp EVGA) are just not happy that the price is being anchored too low by NV.

Probably worse than "suck up and deal with". Remember, NVidia is sitting on a pile of newly-minted GA102 dies. Chances are, because I've heard this so often, NVidia might have been telling EVGA, "You want AD102 dies? You need to commit to purchasing X more GA102 dies, before we sell you any AD102 dies. The fact that your completed board designs featuring GA102 dies are losing $200 a pop each sale, is not our (Nvidia) problem."

That's what I suspect, anyway.

This is what they always do around a new launch, AFAIK.

The way I interpret the last earnings call where Jensen said that he would help clear the channel is that he won't force all the remaining cards down the throats of the AIBs this time, but that doesn't mean that he won't still force them to eat so many that Jensen will get his foie gras.

The impression I get is that nVidia would help on GA102 but not anything else. And AIBs probably have no idea when the 4070 might be released... and (when? if?) there will be any desktop models released below that. nVidia could even make desktop AD106 and AD107 OEM only.

No way in Hell 4050 is ~ 3070
Leaks already point towards (full) AD106 only doing around 7.000 TSE (not that it's the be-all end-all benchmark, but bare with me here), let alone AD107 (4050).
I don't expect it to be cheaper than the racket that is 3050 either.

- Throw that puppy into an M.2 slot and hey baby you got a stew going!

IMPOSSIBLE.
You can not fit a heatsink large enough not to block PCI-E Slots and stuff enough GDDR on a PCB no larger then size of a gum stick.
You could bearly pull a RasBPi on that layout, but a fully functioning gaming GPU.
Maybe if we had Asgard or Asurian Technology like they do in Stargate world.

1599 on a 4090..... those are miner prices.... sigh...
1199 on a 4080 16GB. lolz... again Miner 3080ti prices.
899 on a 4080 12GB.

WTF did etherium merg wiping all the GPU miners do to prices?
Absolutely nothing.

Im with many others and hope etherium bottoms out and evaporates like Tera did, and VB goes to jail or at least a massive law suit on epic levels.

I would consider the 4080 16GB at $800. If not, 4060 12GB will be my compromise card.

i think i might skip out this gen unless we do see a performance merit of 1599.
I need 2 videocards to power my system as i have 2 ultrawides, and a 4k + RiftS. which means a total of 4dp ports.

Currently this is what i have:
Capture.PNG

It makes absolutely no sense for me to replace my 3090 and 3070ti to a 4090 and 4080/4070. I would probably need a do another PSU overhall from the current 1300W Platinum im using currently if i did so.

Im still also waiting on next gen HEDT, because i need those SATA ports as you can see, and I NEED those PCI-E lanes for nVME's and my 2 GPU's to supply me the required 4 DP ports.

God i hate my Rift S.... I sometimes regret not getting the samsung VR unit as it was HDMI and not DP port, and also had OLED.
I don't use my VR set for anything outside movies lately, as i still like watching stuff in 3D, and rarely game on that thing as it gets really uncomfortable with it on and my headphone cans on top.

ETH is no longer a factor in GPU pricing as of 6 days ago. This is purely nvidia greed. They're trying to clear out 30 series by artificially inflating 40 series MSRP. I hope their sales are mediocre.
