And looking for some help :)

Tried the gaming forum, but it's so slooow.

Anyway, here are those I and a couple of others have come up with so far (and remember, only the Good, not the Bad. Some Ugly, if they're good :D)
The only other provision being it must be fun by today's standards. I know that's subjective, but i'm cool with that. Most of these i've played, but some i'm just going by what i've heard so feel free to offer opinions one way or another.

*EDIT* One more thing: i'm looking for multiplayer goodness.

Warcraft 3
Starcraft
Kohan
Homeworld
Warlords 2: Battlecry
C&C: Red Alert
Total Annihilation
Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings
Age of Mythology
Rise of Nations (Thanks Quixfire)
Empire Earth (Thanks Smilin)
Myth 2 (Thanks Styrafoam)

Empire Earth games can last way too long. Several hrs easily.

Aves: Original Age Of Empires isn't just a lesser version of the sequel? Didn't play the original that much...

Yeah, it's pretty good huh? Haven't had a chance to play it yet. Ok, i'll add it.

Anyone have experience with Warlords 2: Battlecry multiplayer? That's one I haven't played.

None of those are RTS games. Thanks though JS, certainly all good! :)

Amish: It may have been a better game for it's time, just as Diablo is better for it's time than Diablo 2, but i'm not sure I could play Warcraft 2 anymore than I could play Diablo 1 today ;)
I agree it was a great game, it's just not up to today's standards IMO (to explain why I won't add it to the list).

Don't forget Dune 2, the granddaddy of the entire RTS genre. Man, I remember wasting so many hours playing that back in the day. :D

Total Annihilation is the single best RTS I've ever played. Too bad Kingdoms was such a disappointment though. :(

Same situation as Amish and war2. It's just not up to today's standards and i'm looking for RTS games that are fun multiplayer games today. You're certainly right though, it was awesome back in the day! :)
And I agree with you about Kingdoms. Resource management was too strange...

Stronghold is good, though no multiplayer support.

Strondhold:Crusader sucks.

Oh, and unusual as it may be, here is another one, though it could be argued whether it's an RTS or a Sim:

Rollercoaster Tycoon

Alas, no multi-player support

As far as RTS's go, I haven't found any that surpass the Age series.

Impossible Creatures is an RTS.....I guess. I've only watched a friend play with it.

Yeah, no mplayer. I played the first Stronghold and thought the AI was kinda...ass. Did you find that? I mean, it would train it's units in conga lines most of the time. Really stupid :p

Amish: Yeah, Impossible Creatures. I have it, but haven't played multiplayer yet. Anyone have exp there?

You're trying to make a list of "the best"? Forget it. Everyone thinks everything but their favourite game "is teh suxX0rz!!!1"

Seems to be going alright so far. If someone wants to reply that way it's cool, they just won't achieve much...
I realise this is entirely subjective, but we're all gamers afterall :)

I liked WC2 even though I don't play it anymore. One of the best games ever IMHO.
