RtCW too short ????

I just beat Wolfenstein today, and was surprised by how short it was !!. It took me a little over 5 hours to beat the game, and I wasnt rushing through it either. I took my time to explore many of the boards and found quite a bit of the hidden areas and treasure. Anyone else think this game was surprisingly short ???

I just started playing after some headaches with Voodoo3 2000 in XP but it's pretty sweet so far. It looks amazing with all the gfx turned up high.

Thats not good.....how many levels are there (roughly)?

And how many m.player levels are there.... i still play the shareware, didnt get around of buying the game yet - maybe i'll get lucky and and get it for x-mas. Its on my girlfriend's present list 🙂

doesnt seem short to me. im in the mission where you have to destroy a radar dish or something. I think im at 7 hrs now, cant remember for sure. got a little bored with sp cause all I can think of is how much id rather be playing multi 🙂

I walk through games most of the time, only running when im fighting.

I've been hearing its short in the reviews. I guess multiplay is stellar, which is what interests me the most in a game anyway. The good SP game is just gravy.

I think they designed the game more for MP than SP. The SP mode is good when you get tired of MP tho 🙂

Five hours?!? Yeah, RIGHT!

There's a glitch with the in-game clock which reports the play time about 25%-50% of the actual play time, according to a .plan update from an Id guy.

I figure I've put about 12-14 hours into it and I'm into Mission 7. Hate to say it, but I suddenly got bored and am prolly gonna just finish it in God mode, cuz I got sick of the sudden increase in difficulty and cheating AI.🙁

There's definitely some glitches with the AI. Yesterday I saw an Axis soldier with the Paratrooper rifle in the window shooting at me. I whipped out the Mauser, zoomed in, and put one right between his eyes. Nothing happened. I started pumping Mauser shots at him and it just didn't register. After that, I started having fun and tried any weapon that would reach across the partially destroyed Venom factory, still nothing. The whole time, he could shoot and register hits against me. I did a game save, and tried again. Whenever he stood in this one area, I couldn't hit him. If I drew him out, no problem. I only wish I had the Panzerfaust to see if he could have withstood that.

I've also noticed that if I turn my back on some Axis soldiers before they start shooting, I can cruise right up to them walking backwards. As soon as I turn and see them, they start firing. I've never been in a war, but I would imagine that I'd get my a$$ blown off doing that stunt.

I am definitely disappointed at how short the SP is. The game is cool and all, but just plain short. I can't see how they justify the premium pricetag they've put on this one.

<< I can't see how they justify the premium pricetag they've put on this one. >>

It's called "supply & demand" - It's a hotly awaited game and they know that people will either pay up or wait for it to come on sale. End of story. The don't owe anyone anything priced below what they can get for it and why shouldn't they get paid for their years of work?!?

The thing is they didn't put the price tag on it. They put a MSRP of $49.99 on it, it's the stores that are raping everyone. It seems to be coming down the the MSRP at a lot of places now though. Hopefully there will be a good sale soon.

funny the way games are taking longer and longer to make, and more and more money to make, yet they seem to be getting shorter and shorter.

sure spending alot of time on small details adds to the realism of the atmosphere, BUT they are starting to get to the stage where it appear they are just wasting their time and never have time to make the game long enough.

max payne comes to mind.

well I got a good 20hrs out of it, but it's a type of game that needs to be enjoyed and not rushed through.

Also keep in mind that most of us have been playing diff MP games for years now and once we get back into SP and even in hard settings that MP experience is paying off and it's making it seem easy.

for example load up HL again and go through it and see if it takes you the same time it did when you originally did it. and if you think wolf was short check out blue shift. I'm positive that if I load it up again I'm sure I can do it in maybe 2 to 3 hours max.

Exactly, I guess multiplayer is where gaming is at now 🙁

Yep, I bought this game for MP play, the SP part is just icing on the cake, IMO. Believe me, if I play this game online half as much as some of the other FPS games I've bought, $50 is a steal.

Yea, it does seem a little short. On the flipside though, the quality of the SP game is very consistently good. This is in contrast to HL where large parts were just plain bad and boring, with some parts being brilliant.
