About a month ago, I was offered a free Verizon V60 phone for signing up.

I said I'll take it... a month later, I receive a different phone in the mail.

I get a bill for some minutes I didn't even use. The guy I purchased it from offered to pay me for that mistake.

I finally got the V60 in the mail. I used for like 10 minutes.. I check online VZserve to see how many minutes I have left...

They said I have 370 minutes used and I owe $108 for my usage.

I call the guy, he says I don't know what I"m talking about. I told him the voicemail has "joe";s name on it.. then he suddenly goes

He says - "ohhh, I know what you're talking about... but he couldn't have used your phone.. if you have proof that he used it, I will pay for it."

I said - "Well then I'll just talk to Verizon Fraud Department"

He says "no no, don't do that, just show me the bill and I'll pay for what he used"

After 2 weeks of owning this phone, I get a letter saying I have claimed too many times on my insurance and they will now take me off coverage. I have no clue what that is about...

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO =*(

I'm seriously panicing.. sad.. pissed..

Update (10/10/10) : I called Verizon rep and they said "well, you can try changing your calling plan." I was telling her I didn't use anything, but she continues to tell me to change my plan or look through my bill carefully when it comes. =(

I say call the BBB and call Verizon - cancel your phone. Return the cell phone. Wash yourself clean of this matter and make sure the vendor takes it up the ass.

I remember you first thread regarding this and I also remember people telling you to not deal with the guy. You dug your own grave.

I like Legendary's response. :) Very cool.

Oh, and learn from your mistakes by buying from a licensed vendor instead of a 3rd party. ;)

And this is pertinent to this story, how?

I put in no claim for a lost phone. I got a letter saying, I had them send me a new phone twice in a month. I don't know what's going on...

What about the "I-brought-this-on-myself" Police?

I always believe everything people tell me too. I'm gonna go put on my purple jumpsuit and commit suicide now. Bye.

Caveat emptor. Learn it and live it, if you aren't carefull why come on here and whine about it? You're a big boy, you can handle it yourself can't you? I mean just call him and ask him what to do because you believed him the first time right?

even if you didnt do anything illegal, you should still notice when something is a bit shady.... kinda like tarot card readings for 3.99 a minute----even right away when the phone was different. definetly when your bill was messed up the first time. but go fix the issue now, even if you did bring it on yourself.

I didn't say you did anything illegal. Use your brain. You missed my point. You agreed to something without any sort of written agreement? That's stupid as it is. And there are plenty of deals out there for cell phones. Offering to take over someone's phone and payments is just stupid anyway.

And if a guy offers to sell you cheap audio gear from the back of his van, just say no!

And when the Nigerian Prince says he has millions to funnel through your bank account, just say no!

And when you see the ad for the magic electronic ab-belt just say no!

Meanwhile, realize you've been scammed by a rip-off artist. Follow Legendary 's advice. Stop being a sucker and don't try buying grey-market goods again. Stay away from eBay.
