My 360 has frozen up 3 times while playing Lego Star Wars. Does that typically happen before the RRoD?

I wish I had a warning. I was just sitting there playing Viva Pinata and before I knew it my entire living room was in flames.

My 360 RRoD'd 2 weeks ago and I used the towel trick to fix it temporarily. It's been working fine until yesterday. Was playing PGR4 and mid-race the unit just locked up on me. So, I turned it off and back on, got the usual green lights, and it froze up on the Xbox360 startup screen. Turned it off and back on and BAM, RRoD! Good thing I've already gotten my box as this thing will be going out on Wed.

I will suggest something I'm sure you've already thought of. I would put your call in now so that you might be able to at least enjoy it while the box is on its way. Mine was having the same trouble, I never got the RRoD but it was giving my enough issues I wasn't taking any chances. When you get the box and form they don't ask specifically anyway.

I was at Costco tonight and saw they had ONE holiday bundle left. Not knowing how long it'd be before they got more in and whether it'd be the holiday bundle or some other bundle, I bought it just in case mine died. Sure enough, I started up DiRT tonight and before I even got into a race it froze up on me. Rebooted the Xbox and got the 3 red rings.

Sure it did. We know you killed your Xbox on purpose so you could get that holiday bundle.
It's crazy the number of RRoDs just from this forum. This is far worse than PS1 and PS2 laser failures and about equal to the bad capacitor plague that effected motherboards back in 2000.
The only place I would buy a 360 is from Costco.

if you buy from costco wont you loose your hard drive?

Not sure if I can transfer the stuff, but I'll probably just keep my old hard drive and return the new one with my old Xbox.
The downside is that I think I can only play my old XBLA games when signed into Xbox Live from now on, since they're tied to the system they were bought on. Maybe someone else has some insight on that, but that's what my friend has to do since he had his replaced using Best Buy's product replacement plan.

I kinda wish mine would die - it is almost two years old now and going strong, but I'd like to roll the dice and hopefully get an HDMI-equipped replacement.

I just got mine back. I'm pretty sure I got my own non-HDMI console back, although in much worse condition. There were black fingerprints on it and something rattling inside.
At least it works, though.

I think im at the point where I avoid using my 360 out of fear of it dying. It still gets a fair bit of use though because of rockband.

how do you figure?
im thinking the less i use it the less chance of it developing rrod or dvd drive crapping out. im looking forward to a couple of games this year for the 360 and i dont want it to crap out before i get a chance to play them.
