why would i want my xbox to die? how does the replacement unit change anything? ive heard plenty of stories to know that the replacement units arent anymore resilient then any other 360.

Babying it is the worst thing you can do. You're not going to get any more play time out of it, it'll just last longer - so if you make it last 3 years, what have you accomplished? You have a ticking time bomb that is out of warranty. And you've deprived yourself of play time. To what end? To have a system that is functional but unused? Just play the thing and when it breaks you get a new one. And if that one breaks you get another new one. Eventually MS will make them stop breaking.

Why would you baby a system when you never have anything good to say about it anyway?

Avoiding using it so it doesn't break is like not driving so you don't get in to a wreck.

That just seems kinda dumb, if you ask me. If you want to play, then play, that's the point of having the thing. I'm sure that people who have used the thing in extremely varying amounts have seem problems.

I'm not sure if this has already been answered before, but does MS extend your XBL subscription for the amount of time it was out for repair? I am paying for it and feel that I should be compensated for not being able to use it due to a manufacturing defect.

I think im at the point where I avoid using my 360 out of fear of it dying. It still gets a fair bit of use though because of rockband.

You're an idiot.

 how do you figure?

im thinking the less i use it the less chance of it developing rrod or dvd drive crapping out. im looking forward to a couple of games this year for the 360 and i dont want it to crap out before i get a chance to play them.

You're an idiot for thinking your typical troll post made any sense. If you're looking forward to playing some games this year, you ought to hope yours dies soon so you can get a warranty replacement before those games are out.

it looks like you're the idiot here.

call 1-800-4my-xbox and they'll send you an empty box for you to send the unit.

Who's to say that actually playing a console makes it break? That's absurd and I find it hard to believe that you actually think that using it as it's ment to be used will inherantly break it. If that be the case then the same can be said for a TV. Using it will break it...I've seen TVs over 20 years old still working.

It is absurd, but that's the way it goes with the Xbox 360. It's a flawed design, so using it the way it's intended to be used DOES cause it to break. Such is life... that's why I bought mine at Costco in the first place.

Don't want to start another thread, but another one bites the dust. My sibling's Xbox 360 has just RROD'd. It's "working" now, but I've read enough stories to know that it's still going to die within a week anyways. It was purchased around May 2007 so can't say I'm one bit surprised. Glad I didn't pay for it.

yes, mine froze a few times, then a few days later, rrod.

just go ahead and take advantage of costco or be a man and wait a month for microsoft to send you another one, that way it's a gamble, and gambling is fun.
