Their doesn't seem to be a list newer than Oct 24th (we were 8th then) ,so I don't know where we stand.I thought the list came from S@NLs gauntlet stats site but I don't see them there.

I just had to return the A64 4000+ to my buddy. It's now set to only run when the computer is idle. Hopefully the other guys can make up the diff!

Ready to crunch:

All comps checked and vacuumed - all in great shape.
All other projects out of work - and set to "no more work".
Seti@home as only active project.
Optimized apps loaded for all Linux and Windows comps.
Cache set to 3 days.

Beer and Coke cool.
Salted peanuts purchased.
Pizza phone number close to phone.
Children and Significant Other informed and placated.
Bed moved to computer room.
Excel fired up on hand-held (which can not be used for crunching)
Opera fired up on 386-laptop (too old to crunch), stats-sites preloaded.

No more other WUs in all systems.

Only 15 500 credits pending ... ;)

Wow sounds like a lot of fun!

I still need to figure out why Opensuse can't run boinc... It can't connect to localhost... That's why I ran Folding@Home on that computer, I hope I find a boinc modification on the web till Sunday!
All other computers are tested and additional fans are installed!

As for the non-computer preparation:

Wednesday Oct. 31 the delivery man brought 30 cans of coca cola
Salted peanuts are stocked in the kitchen plus a mix of salted cookies for entrhalling stats evenings!
Frozen pizzas in the deep freezer

Upgraded from a 6-year-old MP1600+, Tyan-2460, 1x512 MB DDR266 Reg/ECC... and an old Matrox-G200 :D
Now, was thinking a little of keeping the old system running after upgrade, but with 3 of the 20-pins of the power-connector being decidedly brown, and system being difficult to boot, decided against it. The memory-stick is being used in another system.

New system is a Core2-duo E4400 (2GHz), Gigabyte GA-G33-DS3R (built-in graphics), 2x512 MB TwinMOS-DDR2-800MHz/CAS-5. Also a new 400W PSU.

As for how much overclocked and so on, I don't overclock.

15,500 credits pending? you don't mean a megaflush do you? if so you'd better flush them before the race as that's against the rules:p

RD
Nice upgrade  ,no overclocking?:Q booo:p;)
Pitty though ,the E4x00s usually o/c to at least 2.6-2.8GHz.

Btw the browned pins will be due to the terminals splaying open on the PSU ATX plug ,making a loose connection.Tighten the terminals with a tiny screwdriver & that old rig would be good to go again ;)

No, no megaflush at all. The WUs are all properly sent in, I've have had between 13 500 - 16 500 credits pending for at least 2 - 3 weeks!
Also from the http://www.seti.nl/content.php?c=gauntlet_faq :

We cannot control you, but please just play it fair. So, connect to Berkeley just before the start of the Gauntlet, to send in all your results. You cannot control your pending credits, so don't worry about that.

And I'll do exactly that.

Edit:
Probably I'll have some 15 000 - 20 000 credits pending after the Gauntlet, so it won't matter for the sake of the Race.

Lots of pending seems to be the norm for SETI. I'm a n00b and already have nearly 7,500 pending...

It's always normally with some pendings in SETI, a quick look shows 1296 for me... Hmm, if the pendings is anything to go by, petrusbroder should have atleast 10x higher production than me during the race...
RD
Nice upgrade  ,no overclocking?:Q booo:p;)
Pitty though ,the E4x00s usually o/c to at least 2.6-2.8GHz.
Well, how many of these "stable", overclocked systems craps-out in the middle of a CPDN-model...
Btw the browned pins will be due to the terminals splaying open on the PSU ATX plug ,making a loose connection.Tighten the terminals with a tiny screwdriver & that old rig would be good to go again ;)
Brown pins isn't the only reason decided against trying to keep the system running any longer. It has for a long time been "temparamental", with refusing to boot/re-boot on 1st. try, and every time adds/removes anything it seems to land in infinite re-boot-loop that has only been fixed by resetting bios...

As far as pins goes, a closer look and comparing with a pin-layout shows pin 4, 6, 20 and actually also 19 is brown, this is all of the +5V-connections... Hmm, it's the same system there Antec Truepower decided only wanted to deliver 4,5V instead of 5V, so from looks of things to keep this system running it needs it's 5th. PSU... :frown: OK, the 3rd. was zapped by lightning, but still...

Also, while haven't looked closely on SETI-times, in Seasonal Attribution the old used 60 s/TS; while the new uses 22 s/TS. :Q

So, while the old "tiger" has been very stable after it's finally booted, it has afterall finished 2 full 160-year BBC/CPDN-models even it took 245 days per model, still keeping it running is not worth the costs any longer.

According to the graph on the test stats, we're in position 3 (November 3rd 2007)

Overclockers.com
BOINC.BE
TeAm AnandTech
UK BOINC Team
SETI.Germany
Dutch Power Cows
SETI@Netherlands
BOINC@Poland
OcUK - Overclockers UK
Icewolves
PADDY'S IN SPACE
Planet 3DNow!
Ireland
BOINC Synergy

Could anyone please explain what the numbers in the columns 11-5 and 11-6 mean? It can't be the date since 11/5 and 11/6 still lies in the future...

I just finished reading the long King's Gauntlet thread at S@N and didn't see anything about the numbers currently showing in the columns headed as "11/5" and "11/6".

I did see where the sign up deadline got confused. Originally, as posted by SirUlli, the cutoff date was to be Saturday the 3rd of November, 20:00(GMT+1). But about halfway through the 27 page thread, the stats master for the race realized he needed more time to get things sorted and moved the cutoff date back a week to October 28, 20:00(GMT+1).

A lot of people missed this post (even SirUlli) and quite a few people on many teams didn't get in the race. Since this is the first race in a long time, there are a lot of "small problems" in the way it is going to run. Lessons learned running this race will definitely make the next one much better.

But the main thing to realize is: This is all for "fun". Let's not get too carried away if things don't end up with the TeAm at the top of the list in our rightful place. lol

:D
