Another FPS/RPG I played but never finished is Arx Fatalis. Dunno why I didn't finish it, I just didn't...

Three games come to mind:
Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines
Deus Ex (original)
System Shock 2
VtMB is the newest of the three, and has both first and third person views available. Being quite buggy at release and with only minimal patching by the devs, the fan community has been releasing their own patches for this game. It was still quite fun despite the bugs.
Both DE (released 2000) and SS2 (1999) are dated, but don't let that stop you from playing two of the best games ever released.

Not very much an RPG, but Stalker and Stalker Clear Sky are pretty good.
Deus Ex is on Steam.Originally posted by: shortylickens
Deus Ex and System Shock 2. Both of which are hard to find.

Sorry no thoughts on Runes. I tend to stay away from MMO's. It's free to play though, so i'd say give it a shot if you're interested.
Do yourself a favor though and pick up the Gothic universe collection while it's still on sale at GoGamer: http://www.gogamer.com/Gothic-...Id444774VVviewprod.htm
Trust me, you'll thank me later..![]()

To answer one of your original questions, you don't need to know anything about DnD to play NWN1/2. I played through them without ever having played the tabletop game. All the dice throwing and calculations are done behind the scenes, and all you have to worry about is the standard RPG stuff like skills, items, and so forth. The game does a good job of explaining how skills and items work, too. That being said, don't play NWN2 first. NWN1 is a MUCH better game.
Oh, and give Morrowind a try. It's one of my all time favorite games, and I thought it was far superior to Oblivion.

Fable: TLC was definitely a fun game (IMO). I'd feel more comfortable with it at a $20 price point, but that's more of a judgement call.
