So, you need an RPG where you control a single character with a touchpad and a keyboard, and it cannot be an MMORPG because you will be flying when you play, so you will probably not have an internet connection.

I don't think I'd recommend the modern Fallout games (Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4) because I think shooting might be a little difficult with a touchpad. You have VATS, which is good, but in fights you frequently run out of VATS points.

What about action RPGs such as Grim Dawn and Titan Quest? Both are on sale at the moment, Titan Quest itself is pretty cheap right now. They are somewhat faster paced than traditional RPGs, but they would fit a lot of your requirements. Not deep story or roleplaying wise.

Otherwise maybe Torment: Tides of Numenara? That is story heavy and role playing heavy, not much in the way of action. No idea if you end with multiple party members, you might. But you start with only one character even if others join you later.

Thank you for the reply. Most of the time I will be flying but I usually have an internet connection and most of the time the game ports are available. I've enjoyed Titan Quest tremendously and I played a bit of Grim Dawn. These games seemed a bit faster pace than I was comfortable with controlling on the laptop touchpad but perhaps I just need to give it another try and I will get better at it.

And thank you for the Torment suggestion, that looks very interesting.

But no reply to Vaporum. OK then.

I'm actually reading some reviews and watching videos on it now. It's on Steam sale too. Thank you for the suggestion. I apologize for not directly thanking each and every individual in the conversation.

No, problem, just didn't know why you skipped by it.

It looked like a pretty good fit for what you asked for. I'm interested in it also.

Yeah it seems very promising. It's amazing how many games slip by my notice until we all engage in an open discussion about what's out there. I made the purchase on Steam and will try it out. Thanks again.

I think you control 2 characters in Divinity: Original Sin, so that might suit. It isn't an action RPG either. There is divinity: Original Sin 2, but I'm not sure how many characters you control in that game.

Divinity: Original Sin is a party based tactical turn-based RPG, with a top down view. you control upto 4 characters in a party.
still both games (1 & 2) are 2 of the best RPGs of all time.

OP: if you liked Wizardry, did you play any of the Might & Magic games? they are old by now but 6,7,8 are immensely fun. (not single character though)

You control 4 in Divinity: OS, but can chose Lone Wolf perk and cut that to 2, same as D:OS2.

Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, Torchlight 1-2, Divine Divinity and Dungeon Siege would fit the bill. Dungeon Siege you pick up companions, but they act independently.

If you want something totally not twitch based why not try really old school like Wizardry 6-7, Bard's Tale 1-3 or Might and Magic Clouds/Darkside of Xeen. They're all party based, but can all be beaten with a single character or two. And since they're turn based there are no control issues, combat works at your own pace.
