They used to be $89 then $69 now $59 and finally clearanced at OD for $19.95.

It is a tiny (credit card sized) PDA with Keyboard and Serial Connection to PC and is MS Outlook compatable. Not too much memory - 768Kb - but then I don't need a Palm.

Here is the website link.

I picked it up 'cause I need a Phone/address book/planner with alarms/expense manager type of thing but am really cheap.

Does anybody know about these? It looks nice with wallet and everything included. If it is a total POS, please post a warning and I'll return mine.

The SKU is (I think - from the receipt) 2244714527.

Corrected - SKU#564871

So does anybody know anything about the Royal Vista PDA?

I know Royal has been making many things for quite some time. They have support for this product at their web site.

And it also looks like Palm's future is pretty uncertain according to the news despite their "success" with their PDAs.

Is this a decent PDA for less than $20. According to the manager they are being clearanced at all ODs.

I think this is a great tool for people who don't want a large pda. I have a Palm V, but actually miss my Franklin RexPro. If you get these and they're the same size, you might want to invest in a hard plastic pcmcia case to carry it around so you don't break it in your pocket. Memory isn't needed if you're just using it to store addresses and phone numbers to complement your cell phone.

Bump for a good deal.

Thanks, VisionsUCI. Unfortunately there isn't a forum that covers PDAs. :)

I will keep it.

So, it looks like a warm-hot deal for a low (3/4 MB - 12,000 entries) memory PDA.

BTW, - what I like - it comes with EVERYTHING - carrying case, keyboard, PC link, software and EXTRA batteries! For $20 it seems a good deal,

OD does not always clearance items at the same time....this has been noted numerous times in numerous OD threads. Remember the Sony Clie thread? Only 1 store ever clearanced them. I was lucky and picked them clean. Some are national and some are managers discretion.

Well, it is worth checking out.

I ASSumed again. Sorry if it is not a storewide clearance.

EDIT: If you do get the deal - it is pretty good. I love it's tiny but functional size. After spending some time with it, I can say I really like it. If I need more memory and functions, I will get a laptop.

Zwingle, I wasn't putting down your comments.

I just felt bad for my assumption (that it was clearanced at ALL ODs).

I know this is a good deal (now). IF it can be duplicated at other ODs - awesome - I wanted to share.

If not, sorry . . .

Peace. :)

This falls under the heading of 'cheap enough to carry in my pocket'. I have had 3 other pdas, and they all broke in my pocket. The $100 rex 6000 was a real bummer. I was using the carrying case, but not the plastic enclosure. So now I bought 2 royal vistas, so I can have a keyboard at work and at home, and sync in both places. Plus I have a backup in case one breaks.

How breakable are they?

I guess you'd want a stiff plastic or metal case if you put them in your back pocket and forget when you sit down. Or else use a belt clip.

Just to let you all know....this is not a national markdown as of yet. The price is still 49.99 on the OD web site. When it goes to an xx.88 price it is a clearance item. Here is a secret I learned...shhhhhhh! Don't tell.... when an item cannot be found on the website, click on any other item, look at the url and change the SKU number in the url to the SKU of which you are looking. The item will come up with either the clearance price or not available depending on the zip code you searched from. You will have to have the item delivered though because they are in the wharehouse. Try changing zip codes to large metro areas and you may find the item. I have found about 8 of the Oregon Scientific items all marked between .88 and 4.88 and had them delivered long after it was posted here.

apoppin, I always keep my pdas in my front pocket. But they get broken anyway. I might consider a belt clip if I found one that fit.

Thanks for the tip, Zwingle.

And Branded, I suggest looking in the clearance section of B&M stores for phone accessories. Some of the really tiny cell phone belt clips might work.
