I doubt it will affect pump prices. This just means a doubling of profit for oil companies.

a new, large, and politically reliable source coming online will lower the price of a barrel. these would also be less profitable barrels than what is pumped from saudi arabia (production costs there are ridiculously low).

but yes, there is a disconnect between pump prices and oil prices, as oil is only one factor. the other tight factor is refining capacity. as long as we're not adding refining capacity (or reducing demand for refined products) then the disconnect will remain a major factor.

Shell oil is so desperate for proven oil reserves, forget oil shale, they'll count the mayo in their cafeteria. :D
