Just have a couple of questions, I want to route a 2 computers to a broadband modem. I was thinking about buying the netgear 4port router. Would that be a good?? I want to have different IP address on each of my computer. Would that solve the problem??? What else should i buy? A NTCARD? and how much would be all of this??

If you wanted to save some money, you could set up one of your computers to act as a router, but you would have to have it on all of the time if you wanted the other machine to be connected to the internet. Basically to do this, you would need two network cards in one machine. Connect one of the network cards to your cable/adsl modem or whatever. If you have either win2k or win98se, it has the software built in. Just install the internet connection sharing addon from ADD/REMOVE programs if you are using win98se, in win2k it is built-in and can be activated by looking in the network properties box. Then connect the other network card to a hub, and you are set.

The Netgear router will do exactly what you need it to do, including passing out IP addresses to your systems. The advantage to it, over using a system as a gateway, is that it doesn't matter if a system on the network goes down, the others will still have web access.

I think they're down under $150 now.
