Hello,
I have been having a problem with my computer for a few months now, and am posting to see if I can fix it at some point!

ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
2.8 GHz Pentium 4 CPU
2x 512 MB sticks of PC3200-DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
(OLD HD)80GB Seagate IDE
(NEW HD)200GB MAXTOR SATA
Soundblaster sound card

The problem started occuring a few months ago. When I tried to start up the computer in the morning (cold boots) it would hang for about 5 minutes, and then I would need to reset the computer to get it to start up normally. It hangs before POST since I never hear the normal beep. As time progressed, the 5 minutes turned into 30 minutes. A couple months after it started I replaced my power supply and got a bigger brand name( I forget exactly) 350W PS. The problem persisted. I found that my hard drive was slowing down in a major way, so I replaced it for the SATA. The problem persists. The wait time is now at an average of 50mins to 1 hour, and then I am able to reset the machine via the button on the front of the case and then the machine runs fast, fine, without a hitch until I power it down at night. Then I get to do it all over again the next day.

Like I say this happens before POST,.. I believe. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem, please let me know! The rest of the machine parts (besides the SATA HD) are about 2 years old now. I plan to get a new machine sometime in the near future(6 months maybe), but it would still be nice to fix it. Thanks for any info.

Hmm I would notice if it was leaking caps. I believe it is not.

But I agree it probably is a bad mobo. Anything else I can try to adjust on it to avoid replacing it?
