Router

I just purchased a Linksys 4 Port Cable/DSL router (BEFSR41). I've made my own cables to connect it to the cable modem & a computer in another room. I also have a factory made cable going from the router to a computer in the same room. The cable connecting to the cable modem & the one going to the computer in the same room are working great. I'm having some difficulty getting the other cable to work. I have checked the wiring pattern & all cables are using the same pattern. I have also used a digital multimeter to test the cable and make sure that all the wires are conducting well. No mater what port I use or what system the cable is plugged into there is no signal. What could possibly not be hooked up correctly?

Thanks😕

maybe the connectors (the things you plug in) arent working
try using a factory made cable, or pick up a spool of cat5 cable from radio shack

but I'm using the same quality & type of connectors on both of the cables that I made.
and I used a multimeter to test each connection from connector(1) to connector(2)

Well if you're confident in the wiring job then it would have to be the NIC or the way it's setup. I might suggest physically taking the PC that works and try that on the other end of the cable that doesn;t seem to work. If the known good working system works over there then yu can be further assured that the prob lies in that PC...
