Router/Wireless type make any difference?

Does the type of router (linksys, d-link..etc..) and wireless type (B,G,N...etc) make the internet any faster fo rthe computers that are not hooked up to the modem/router?

Maybe he's talking about outside computers trying to get in? Or a scenario like gaming and high pings? If a router sucks at routing with an easily overwhelmed NAT table, non-functional QoS, etc... then yes, the router can slow up connections for computers trying to get in and out. At least as far as I understand it.

If your wireless router doesn't "play nice" with your wireless neighbors, it could screw both you and them up as well, by causing packet loss, signal noise, etc...maybe that's what you're talking about?
 
Sorry, didn't explain it very well. Currently I have an 802.11b router, and I was just wondering if changing to a G network will increase the speed of my internet on the other computers hooked up to the network.

Altough JackMDS, link kinda said it when it said "For Internet surfing it does mot matter whether you use 802.11b or 802.11g. In most cases Internet Broadband Connection is slower than 802.11b."
