router trouble

I'm behind a router and I cant get anything done (other than the normal web browsing), I cant do any direct connection with other people behind routers (such as on irc, or send/recieve with AIM) and I also cant play many multiplayer games like counterstrike.
I've tried every option on my router settings and it still does not work. I use a netgear RP114 and comcast cable for my ISP. I have one of my PC's set up with a static IP and all the ports for the games/services forwarded to it. I let the router assign IP's to the other computers because they're not always up.
what should i try next?

did you try to setup the computer in a DMZ (aka. demilitarized zone) - check the router settings. Also check if there arent any funky firewall settings on "game" computer or on the router.

If you are running xp, be sure to disable the firewall. Here is a listing of ports, just in case you need any more.Ports
Make sure your computer has not reverted back to "get connections automatically."
I don't know what else to tell you, good luck!

I've got the xp firewall off, so I dont think that's whats blocking me. For DMZ the only option my router gives me is a box to put in the Default DMZ Server (its set to 0.0.0.0) and it appears ont he same page as my port listings.
Static Route Entry

There is also another page on the router called "static rout" that i'm not sure how to use, could this help in any way? I have no entried on the static routs, but if I edit one of them this is what the blank looks like:

Route Name _______
[ ] Active
Destination IP Address 0.0.0.0
IP Subnet Mask 0.0.0.0
Gateway IP Address 0.0.0.0
Metric 0
[ ] Private

anything useful there?

For Default DMZ server, put in the IP that your computer currently leases from the router.

Also, try connecting to the cable modem directly and bypass the router. See if that allows you to connect to your friends. You want to make sure it's the router at fault and not your provider. I know that Comcast has blocked ports before (such as 25 for SMTP so you can't connect to an outside SMTP server).

I bypassed the router and some things started working like the send/recieve on aim or dcc's on irc with other people behind firewalls. Still no go on half-life, but I know other people who use comcast and run the game, perhaps I should employ their expertise to see what the heck I'm doing wrong...
