Yes you can.

Just make sure to use the right CAT5 cable.

Regular port to Regular Port Crossover.

Uplink to Regular Port Straight.
 
so regular port of router to uplink of switch = straight cable?
and then the switch will act like an extention of router?

Since you use two ports for the connection.

You should have (Number of ports in Router + Number of ports in Switch) - 2 = Number of available ports.
