router,switch, hub...to a newb whats the diff

I'm just wondering the main difference between these.

router pass traffic between networks or subnets


hub passes traffic to nodes on the same subnets via broadcasting


switch does the same as a hub but keeps a list of machine to port maps so doesnt need to broadcast and is therefore faster and more efficent.
