Router->Switch->Hub, connection doesn't work

Hi, I have a network set up at my old fraternity. One of the rooms recently had to add another person to a room with only 2 ethernet ports. The connection works fine when it's one computer plugged in. If a hub is connected, then the hub does not get any signal at all.

It's currently a Netopia 9100 router connected to the DSL Modem and to two 3Com 16 port switches. Cables from each room are terminated and then connected to the switches. an SMC 10baseT hub is trying to be connected to one of the runs of cable.

Any suggestions as to why this isn't working? The option of running another cable is not feasible. No one is going to clear out the storage space where we would have to get into to run the cable.

Thanks.

Does that hub have an uplink port? Make sure the cable from the switch is going into the uplink port. If it does not have an uplink port, then you'll have to connect the hub to the switch using a crossover cable which seems kinda difficult in your situation.

could be the uplink port. I wasn't the one actually doing it. My brother(blood brother and hes in the house) was the one setting it up. I didn't think to ask about the uplink port. I'll ask him and then get back.

edit:

The hub has 6 ports on the back:

1x
2x
3x
4x
5x linked to DaisyChain

I told him to try the daisy chain port and get back to me
