hey, i just wanted to know the differences between routers, like the b, g, and n. ive read everywhere that n is supposedly the fastest out there. but what exactly do they mean by fast? i currently have a linksys wireless-b, and am capable of downloading at 180kb/s. if i do switch over to wireless-g or wireless-n, will i download faster?

What kind of broadband plan do you have? If you have a plan that's maxed out at 180k for download, upgrading a router won't improve any download speed.
How is the download speed compared to being connected directly to the modem? Unless you have a home networking thereby transferring large files cross the home network, using a "b" router exceeds most residential broadband capacity.
 
thanx guys. yea, i think my plan limits the max dl speed... one surprising thing is that when i actually started using my router to connect my new laptop, i found that my download speeds actually improved. wut used to be 130 kb/s went up to 180 kb/s. it seemed as thought the router made download speeds faster than being directly connected to the modem. is that normal?
