I've noticed that whenever I check on my wireless router, it seems quite hot. I imagine that that would affect its performance somehow. Should I mod it, and put some sort of fan inside? Or should I just leave it how it is?

Right now, it's on top of my dsl modem on top of my case. It's not crammed in a corner or anything, but it seems warm.

When researching a $20 wireless router from Fry's ( one of the cheapo Airlink models ), I read quite a few people talking about it getting ridiculously hot.
But no one ever had a problem with it. ( Of course, they couldn't have been running it for more than a year.)

Some guy opened his, found the one chip that created all the heat, and slapped a memory heat sink on it and said it worked very well.

You have nothing to worry about, all routers get quite warm.

Don't bother to try and cool it off any more, it won't change the performance of it at all by being in a cooler environment.
