Router/security question

I'm planning on getting a router for my cable modem service. Does enabling file and printer sharing (win98) on my computers compromise security with this setup? TIA

not if you firewall ports 137-139

You can also just use NetBui for you internal lan.
Then, unbind file and print sharing from TCP/IP.
