Router Problem

My router loses its connection at least 10 times a day. I'm sure the modem is fine.

The network icon shows the X on three laptops (1 PC with Vista, 2 Macs) and a Windows 7 desktop that's hard wired to the router.

It's a DI-628. Where do I start diagnosing? I've restarted and reset it several times, and this happens when the router is both secured and unsecured.

If you can connect that Win7 box hard wired to the modem and have no issues, you can be certain it's the router. My next step would be to reflash the router with the most recent firmware or, if it has the most recent firmware, try flashing to that same version.

If you get no positive results, it's time for a new router. They're inexpensive and typically don't last all that long.

Edit: I suppose it wouldn't hurt to swap out the CAT cable from the modem to the router as a troubleshooting step.

Did you mean DIR-628? If so, there is firmware with a 5/20/10 date available. Pretty recent.

Updated the firmware earlier while waiting for replies. Hopefully this fixes the issue, as the router is less than 6 months old (as well as all cables and whatnot).

Thanks for the helpful post!

Issue persists even with the firmware update. I've also checked to see which frequency my phone operates on to make sure they don't conflict.

I'd hate to buy a new router already...
