Router limiting bandwidth

My Internet speeds when plugged directly into the computer are around 12Mbps. However, when plugged into the router, it never goes past 7.5Mbps.

Any ideas how to configure the router to allow higher speeds? If it matters, it is a Linksys BEFSR41.

Does it have QoS? Try setting the port you are connected on to high priority. Try upgrading the firmware, or get the homebrew (possibly linux) firmware that I saw linked a while ago and can't for the life of me find right now.

Linksys BEFSR41 can not do Qos or be flashed to do so.

The least expensive solid Routers that can do Qos when Flashed with DD-WRT are

JackMDS, I notice the routers you linked me to are wireless. Are there any non-wireless routers that will allow me to use the full 15Mbps?

Or can I disable the "wireless" part of a wireless router and just hook up through ethernet cable?

On a wireless router you can just turn the wireless off in the configuration page.

The Linksys WRT54GL is pretty good if you're thinking of buying a new one.

It is actually hard to find good entry level wire only Router.

Since wired Router cost the same as wireless, get a Wireless one and switch off the Wireless.

Ok just to update,

I got the Linksys WRT54G2. I couldn't find the WRT54GL -- hopefully it's not too much of a difference. I know it uses Wireless-G but we don't use wireless networking, so I didn't want to spend an extra $50 for Wireless-N.

I disabled the wireless networking since we aren't using it. My speeds are now anywhere between 10Mbps and 20Mbps (depending on which server I use). So I'm MUCH happier with these speeds.
