I wonder how many people know of DSL routers? Well DSL routers from service providers instead of a DSL modem.
Well here is my situation. I have Verizon DSL and we were given a DSL router. Basically the DSL router logins automatically. Because of this we can share the internet via just a switch.
Now the problem is I wanted to add a wireless router and because the DSL router logs in automatically i can't setup PPOe. So Iset the router(D514) as a dynamic(like a cable modme). THe internet worked only we couldn't login to secure or cgi scripted websites because of unresolved DNS.
So I locate the DSL Router and disconnect it, then I setup the D-514 as PPOe and it works! But unfortunately the internet won't work. Every page you try to visit u get a msg "Verizon can't varify your username and password.". I see that as a ploy to make you buy their networking equipment.
I can't alter the DSL router because it is scure via user/pass and of course the user doesn't have it.
So the way to solve this is to just set the router as a switch. So my question is how do I do this?
The D-514 has no switch settings. The Microsoft wireless/4port router has that setting but i dont have one.
