I think im gonna bulid a new pc here pretty soon and I had a couple of questions about networking. I already have two pc's networked through a hub on my @home account and when the third is bulit I am getting a router. Can I connect the hub to the router? The router only has one port and I would like to be able to go from the modem to the router to the hub if thats possible. Will the assigned ip go through the hub to other pc's?
Now the new pc will be in a different room than the main/host computer. I am not sure how I can run the cable without making an unsightly mess. I guess I could go through the celing but how do I guide it? Also this may be more than 50ft of cable. Can I just measure and buy a cut length at a hardware store?
