Hey everybody, my q is as follows my linksys wrt54gx4 seems to be not working correctly, I had the ckt brker go out 2 days last week and now I get no internet connection unless I hook up directly to the pc and bypass the router, so is it possible that it is fried or something.

Thanks

There is always the chance that could be the issue. Have you tried to hard reset the router to defaults? Maybe re-flashing the firmware?

Does your router have good air flow, so that the internals are kept cool?
Heat is an enemy of routers, like everything else.

Internet is No indication to Router working, or Not

If there is No lights On, try another power supply module.

If there is Lights On, when to Router is plugged in, do Hard reset (Read the manual).

If your computer's TCP/IP is set to Auto Obtain parameters, and after hard Reset you can Not access the Router's Menu system from the Browser (Read the manual, and http://www.ezlan.net/debug.html ), then in all likely hood you need a new Router.

If you need a new Router this is an excellent choice, http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833162134

Routers can die. Althought it's not very often (even though they run 24/7 for years), but I have had it happened to me before.

Sounds like a spike killed your router and then the breaker cut out. Time to get a new one. If it is on a surge protector, you can assume that the surge protector is also trash (they also usually loss the ability to protect with each spike).
