Rounded IDE cable from SVC.COM

I want to replace all the cables from all of my computers. Does anyone here got rounded cable from svc.com ?? Would you share your thought about the cable ?? I am worried about the quality of the cable because they are so cheap compared to other places.

Thanks

i have some UV reactant cables i bought from them, a single IDE for my hard drive, a floppy, and a dual IDE for my drives, they work fine, no problems and they look good at night.

I've used them in three setups. Works fine for me.

I'm sure the major brands are more sturdy and think plastic shield etc. But i'm not paying 5 times price if the cheaper ones work.

BTW does the 36" cable work fine within IDE standard ?? Anyone use them with no problem ??
I have some tall cases that will need an extra long cable.

I think 18" is the official IDE standard.
Beyond that you risk data corruption, system failure, anal leakage, heat stroke, monitor explosion, etc. etc. etc. 😛

They work just like any other round cable. I ordered a bunch of the red/blue 99 cents clearance round cables. Looks great in my rig.

I use a 36" cable from svc. I have it connected to my 2 optical drives. Works fine with them, but I would be carefule putting a hardrive on a 36" cable, because that would be very risky. I also have a 24" I use 2 7200 rpm hardrives on, and I've had no problems w/ corruption. Been running great since July 03 🙂

Thank you, I've been wanting to confirm this. I will use the same exact setup as yours 36" for optical and 24" for 2 WD drives.

I'm using a couple and they are working fine....

I also have some Vantec ones that seem a lot more high quality. But so far the SVC ones are great for the price.

Can you please elaborates more on why is vantec is better/higher quality ?

thank you much.

I've purchased Round cables (24" black versions) from SVC and they worked fine and seem fairly good quality, I've got HDD's and Optical drives on em w/out issues

The Vantec is sheilded with braided copper. The plastic material also feels thicker. There is no gap between the 40pin connector and the cable, on the SVC ones you can pull it back so you can see the actual wires.

Like I said though, the SVC ones work fine though.

they will work, but its a vanity thing mostly. you can fold your normal ide cables.

i'm just waiting for sata...

I have a question while we are on this topic. I just ordered a lian-li pc75B full tower case. What length cabling would I need for such a large case as that? Anyone with this case, or another of similar size, pls help me out. Thanks!

I have an Addtronics 6896A which is almost a full tower too, and I'm using 18" cables. It depends on where your drives are at, as well as where your IDE connectors are at.

Good thread, I was curious myself on about these cables and ordered a set couple weeks ago. Everything works fine, the prices really can't be beat. Thx
