Poor quality rounded cables can cause data corruption. I ditched most of my rounded cables (bought them from SVC) because I was having data corruption issues. Just a fair warning.

What are your takes? I was wondering when I saw this post, but I'd like to buy some rounded cables.

Some have twisted pair wires... Some have a shield... Some have a grounded shield...
"All" rounded cables are not just slit up ribbon cables. :p

My round cables died on me after 1.5 years. They worked perfectly fine on my old system, but I pulled them out and put them into my new rig and the HD refused to boot. Stuck in a POS cheap cable and it worked... Now how to get Vantec to replace this thing with their lifetime warranty...

I've used various rounded cables for a couple of years with zero problems. FWIW mine have a braided shield.

Performance can be affected by poor cables regardless of the shape. Round is not more prone to "poorness" than flat ribbons. You usually get what you pay for.
