Rounded cables...are they as bad as everyone says they are?

Doesn't rounded IDE cables causes data corruption via electromagnetic interference, as the data wires are parallel and too close to each other?

It should, but any IDE cable longer than 18" allows for the same problems. Basically, with today's technology it's a non-issue.

From the person running 7 rounded 36" IDE cables, three of which exit the main case completely and enter a secondary case.

...and also because there isn't one ground wire between every signal wire.

Yeah... but in theory. I think there's enough error checking and correcting in ATA-66 and newer that it's not really an issue anymore. Maybe if your PC was sitting a few feet away from someone using an arc welder...

I'm considering ordering this: http://svc.com/prc18hd2-cop.html

Those are nice cables, I'd go ahead and order... I've been using round cables for years and never a single problem. 🙂

I bought a few rounded PC Toys cables from SVC just last week.
Be warned they are the type that have one pin hole filled. I got single and double connector cables. They all had the one hole filled
.
