I wish you good luck in getting your Soul fixed up.

Quoting out of context FTW! :whiste:

Someone I know has a Kia Soul. We road tripped it once when it was less than a year old. Seemed pretty nice and roomy in the passenger area, but the rear hatch area was miniscule. Had a bit of a cheap feel to it, but not any worse than any other cheap car.

IMO it just needs more power and higher MPG, plus the manual available with better trim levels and not just the basic. o_O

I've actually had a really good experience with it for the last 2+ years, not one problem to speak of. And all of this is minor stuff, not big engine/transmission/brake/whatever problems.

Also, the Soul is absolutely the best car I have ever driven in the snow. My last few cars have had Traction Control, but I don't know if it's the balance of the car or what, but it works like twice as good on the Soul as it did on the other cars. I've plowed through the last couple of winters like I was driving through mud, no problems at all!

Keep in mind that the ones I worked on were rentals. They get driven a lot harder than a single owner car, and a lot farther in one year.

I definitely agree with winter handing. With the right tires, they chew through the snow. The 2012 model Kias have seen some big quality improvements. The Soul also comes a six speed auto now, which it badly needed. The engine used to scream on the highway with the four speed.

Yeah, you'd think it would have more cargo room. Our other car is a Honda Fit, which has about 20 sq feet less cargo room, and yet it feels MUCH bigger for storing things in - especially since the seats go flat in the Fit, and only angle down "almost" flat in the Soul.

I'm not overly disappointed with the MPG. My Fit gets ~32mpg, my Soul gets ~28mpg. But the Soul is a giant box on wheels, so it's not quite as aerodynamic as the Fit

Yeah, I think I've got the 4-speed auto. Between like 55 and 65 it is really pushing (and has that great 4-cylinder whine lol) - does great above or below that. Also, very stable on the highway...my Fit is squirrely at highway speeds and requires you to babysit the wheel, but the Soul is a tank.

Other than the horrifically bad blind spot, I've really enjoyed leasing the car. The ride is stiff, but the handling is great, so I have no complaints there. I think I'm going to move to a Subaru Forester for my next ride to eliminate the blind spot & get more cargo room.

It's a Kia. What did you expect?

I've owned 1 Kia. a 2007 Kia Spectra. It is the only new car I've owned that never needed to go back to the dealership. I put gas in it and had the oil changed and that was it.

Our Toyota minivan however had problem after problem.
