Most FWD cars have splined axles (as opposed to bolted flanges) and require dropping a control arm and pulling an axle to be able to spread the transmission and engine far enough apart. God help you if the transmission-subframe-inner fender relationship wasn't designed for easy clutch access...

When I changed out the trans on my Saturn, I had to drop the drivers side of the subframe.

Really though, that is 10 extra minutes on this car.

Hopefully the tC will be as easy to work on as my Sat.
