Rough Draft For Christmas

Not sure on the budget here but I was thinking along the lines of $1000-$1200 but keeping it as cheap as possible. I already have the Corsair 2x 512MB TCCD PC3200 Sticks so I'm good with the memory (thank god)

Motherboards:
DFI SLI-DR Expert $199
Asus A8N-SLI Premium $163

Processors:
Opteron 148 $227 (not getting the 3700 SD when I can get this baby)
Opteron 165 $350+ (for this price I might as well get the 170 for $410) - I'd get this if the price ever goes down to $300 or so.

Hard Drive:
Western Digital WD2500KS $115 (decent looking drive and I'm liking the 16MB Cache)

Video Cards: (Don't know what I wanna do here...I'd like the powerhouse but it might be a little too expensive)
XFX 7800GTX 450/1250 $450
eVGA 7800GT $319

Power Supply:
Seasonic 600W $139

Extras:
LiteOn DVD Burner $40 (Need one...I've got a DVD-ROM and 52x32x52 CD Burner now)
Thermalright SI-120 $48 (uber cooling yay)
Thermaltake Thunderblade 120mm Fan $9 (blue and it lights up and pushes 70cfm+ @ 21dba)

I'll be keeping my case from 3 years ago as well. It's served me well 🙂.

I'm upgrading from a 2.53GHz 533fsb @ 3.0GHz P4, IT7-MAX2 v2 (no DC memory 🙁), 9800pro video card.

I DO overclock and game (CS, HL2, NFS, Flight Sim), hense the reason for the SI-120 and the Opteron.

I'm open to suggestions! Thanks

Bump 🙂 I've changed the DVD Burner to the NEC ND-3550A, and I'm leaning more towards a Panaflo fan and the DFI board and maybe the GT.

Deffinatly get that and I would say go with the Opteron 148 I don't think dual-core will perform much better in this case.

Meh. I like the new board and its overclocking abilities and features and all that fun stuff. Plus I'd have SLI capabilities for the future 🙂
