Rotozip vs Dremel

I've off to Lowes very shortly and have to buy one or the other. The use right this minute is cutting off toilet bolts/nuts. The ones that hold it to the floor. Other than that just general home repair stuff but cutting though those nuts and the the bolts is my main concern at the moment.

dremel is easier to control and less dangerous.
you don't really need a rotozip for something as simple as toilet bolts, those things snap off if you even cut part way through.

I'm more worried about the nuts than the bolts. It doesn't look like there is enough room to cut under the nuts and just cut the bolt. The nuts is going to have to be cut too.

Dremel. Just make sure you get the reinforced cutoff disks and not the thin ones.

I got the dremel(3000 model), the rotozip is massive. But it was missing the coilet nut so I can't attach anything so back it goes for another one. It was also missing the grinding attachment.

Also wear eye protection using. When I've been cutting metal my dremel can toss little bits of metal pretty far. Also, every once and a while the cutting disc will break, even the reinforced ones. I've had them hit skin before and it didn't even leave a mark. However, if that thing hit you in the eye it could do some damage.

A set of safety glasses should be something that everybody owns, even if they're just a cheap set.

I have a couple of Dremel tools and one Roto-Zip. For your use, the Dremel will be MUCH better...

oh i got mixed up, the nuts are just as easy to slice through, but yea if its a tight space a dremel is more maneuverable than a rotozip, those things are for cutting larger amounts of material.

Got it done. Dremel did a great job. Ate through two and half of the reinforced wheels but it got through it very well.

Glad it worked out but sounds odd you went through so many wheels... you're not supposed to apply a lot of pressure

Just cut the bolt off and it should fall out... or the nut which ever is on accessible. I have done it with a hack saw... although I have a dremmel... so that was pretty stupid on my part...

New house and the toilet is ~30 years old. It isn't acting right so I'm just replacing it with a new more efficient one, actually I'm just going to do both of them. Bad part is the old water supply line is to short and by the time I got to go to Lowes they were closed so it's going to have to wait until Wednesday to finish it.

I guess I was using to much pressure, I'll have to use more patience on the next one.
