Rosewill RNX-N180UBE IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter

$19.99 with free shipping (normally $29.99)

RTL8191SU chipset
MIMO 300M (not 150M)
5dBi RP-SMA antenna

This is the same thing as this $13 shipped deal except for two things. One is that the USB dongle itself is oversized. My theory is that this gives it some breathing room so the radio doesn't burn out. Check Newegg reviews on other USB dongles. Lots of them fail. This one has 80% 5/5 eggs. The other thing is that it comes with a USB extension that is a stand. This really helps position the thing for best results. Heck, I'd buy those things separately if I could (challenge - who can find one for cheap!).

mimo with only one trasmit antenna, so its only 150mps upload rate. common in cheap usb adapters. you can find the same speeds in the $12 adapters. this rosewill should be a quality product though.

Yeah, I have one of the premiertek's and it is not working well for me 🙁 poor transfer rates, dies randomly. Tried a heatsink but it didn't help.

I noted that. IMO the benefit of this is the base/extension that it comes with.

:/ extension cables are $1 from monoprice, long enough to let the dongle drape over the corner of a desk or whatever. thats what i do anyway.

didnt mean to imply this is a bad deal, it should be a quality product. id like to see $5 knocked off though, or 300mbs upload rates.

I bought it when it was 15 but i had to pay shipping so with free shipping it ends up a good deal. Works really well, gets a bit warm but works all day.

Not the same as a stand, but whatever floats your boat.

I have a Belkin USB dongle with stand (no external antenna, just stand) and really like the stand.

i have a premiertek with RTL8191SU chipset and 5dBi RP-SMA antenna. it works well (85-93 % signal strength) with the stand, have it perched on top of the hutch.

I happen to have purchased one of their EasyRX1 Wireless adapters from the egg. It was a complete nightmare. Not only did it not work at all, but the drivers were corrupt and I could only manually uninstall the software package from my pc.

i bought this a week ago. it does not work with my desktop win7 64 bit ultimate. i also installed this on my Vista laptop. the signal was not enhanced as i thought with this bigger antenna. oh wells

from what i noticed over the last few months is, those adapters (i bought 3) are OK in a pinch, but i wouldnt use them for a dedicated connection. the biggest problem ive had was range, its just not that great. not bad, but name brand adapters will find and connect to networks that this premiertek wont even see at all.
