Yesterday's production was a big spike, so now we're back to "normal" production. Also, tomorrow the Folding@Home race between TAS and the F@H regulars will start and some people have expressed, that thus their Rosetta output will fall. So I guess we can expect a a somewhat lower production this month for Rosetta but an increased one for F@H. Hey, it's for the science! 🙂

Today's congrats go to BadThad for passing the monster milestone of 50,000 creds in almost no time and growing bigger and bigger in my rear mirror for the last weeks. 😉 Also, congrats to jened and TA_JC for breaking the 10,000 barrier! 😛


Our big spike in production has kept US-D off our tail for one more day, but the difference is down to some 5,000 points and closing.

Just got 2 more of my home krunchers back and running, they were sorely missed. Also, I changed my connection preferences to "connect about every 5 days" to cache more work. Not sure how that will affect my daily production.....but....the Enterprise better tell Scottie to find some more dilithium crystals and engage "warp factor 10"! LOL 😛

I find myself looking for a big stick to beat off a certain BAD doggie 😛

In the meanwhile the RA is now ranked 15th in Dimes and we just broke 30 Million and 40th place in Find A Drug
And 10K for Mike in seti.Plus we have RA members helping with taboo and another RA team mate Slatz is now ranked 43th on Anandtech's dimes team

I just checked our numbers at Free-DC and I thought the results looked a little light today for TeAm Enterprise so I checked last reported and found that I had a couple of machines that had not sent in completed results today. Just thought I would give everyone a heads up that they might have the same thing going on. I don't know why it happened as neither of these computers has done this before, but having 2 do it made me think that it might be more than a coincedence.

I've had that problem ever since I upgraded to the 5.x client. BOINC uploads the finished WUs but I have to click on "Project Refresh" (I guess that's it, I use the german version) in order to make my WUs count. Then I can see a message like "7 results reported" It's not much of a problem for me, but for bigger fleets it might be.

Don't know yet. I'll upgrade one of my boxes to the very latest version this weekend and see if the problem still occurs. I still have two boxes running the last 4.x version there was and they're doing fine. Once a WU is finished, they upload AND report it at the same time.

I'll let you know if the update changed anything.

I didn't make the mk ->mk4 connection.... HI

About the results uploads.. I got up this morning and found that my machines had 9 results ready to report. I had changed my network connection preference to "connect about once every 3 days" day before yesterday. I think this is a result of that.

So it's a trade-off. tell it a long time between connections to get a decent cache of WUs available, but then the results don't get reported very often either.

Yeah, that's the way I see it, too. Well, once or twice a day I just hit the "refresh" button and still have a decent ammount of cached WUs at hand.
 
I just discussed the "Ready to report" condition with Crazee and looked into this a little further.

It appears to me if you set your individual machine's settings to "Network activity always available", the BOINC Manager will transmit not long after the work is done. You can therefore have your GENERAL PREFERENCES / NETWORK USAGE / CONNECT TO NETWORK ABOUT EVERY "_____" DAYS set to a large number (no higher than "10") and thereby have many cached WUs available.

This should result in a large cache of WUs on each machine and "contact" with HQ on a more frequent basis. 🙂

I'm not 100% sure about this but it appears to be correct. 😉
