Did he actually say that?
yup. I actually watched the beginning of his show...maybe monday night? it was fucking unreal. he was summing up the events of his glorious weekend, and his monologue was basically a lashing out at all the deniers, crying at Obama for ignoring him (seriously: "Who do you think you are, Mr President?! Not to pay attention to me?!!--dude was mad, yo.), and simply claiming that HE AND HIS FOLLOWERS ARE DIVINED BY GOD TO LEAD THE COUNTRY OUT OF THE MUCK.
NO FUCKING JOKE. that was the thesis of his tirade. It was...astonishing.
anyway, he was going over some video sent to him by an attendee, which captured some geese flying in a V over the reflecting pool, and naturally, he said "If this isn't a sign from God that we are chosen to be here, to lead the country, then I don't know what is." I'm paraphrasing, but his message is obvious.
I used to think the guy was simply an idiot, but displays like he put on during that show actually frighten me. I see now that Beck is a fucking Waco-style Branch Davidian-type lunatic. His followers are co-dependents, and the prospect of any of them having any sort of influence is, I think, a very very serious threat to our Nation's future. Seriously.
I didn't check to see if the other outlets picked up that bit on his show, but I was shaken to my core listening to that stuff. absolutely terrifying.
