Rosary beads 'save' man who fell 39 stories.

NEW YORK — A New York City man who plunged 39 stories from the roof of an apartment building has survived after crashing onto a parked car.

Witnesses and police say 22-year-old Thomas Magill tried to commit suicide by jumping from the high-rise at West 63rd Street on Tuesday. He landed in the backseat area of a Dodge Charger after crashing through the windshield.
Magill suffered broken legs. Police say he's in critical condition.

The car's owner, Guy McCormack, of Old Bridge, N.J., told the Daily News he's convinced that rosary beads he kept inside the Dodge saved Magill's life.
Witnesses told police they saw Magill falling past their windows.

He isn't the only New Yorker to survive a high-rise fall. Window washer Alcides Moreno fell 47 stories from the roof of a skyscraper in December 2007.

I thought there was going to be some insane way that they got caught on something as he fell or the way they were positioned somehow prevented a major bone or artery from being broken or severed.

no, just some douchebag who had them in the car the guy fell on says god saved him...

My first thoughts as well. 😀

If this is what Mr. McCormack believes, so be it.
Where's the "story" to this post?

As with many other posts, it's meant to point out how silly people can be. Whether it's that SlimFast will make 3 dozen donuts ok, or that rosary beads translated into 'luck' for the jumper.

I'm not trying to be inflammatory, but probably 20% of the posts on this board are posts pointing out when people do or say stupid shit. You're well within your rights to disagree with this OP, and think that the faith the car owner has is admirable. But many people, myself included, tend to think that rosary beads had nothing to do with the man living.

It is not mentioned that the rosary beads were made out of 59 king size Serta matresses and part of a world record attempt for "Largest Rosary Stuffed Into A Car".

lets do some science people.

hypothesis - rosary beads protect people from dying after falling 39 stories onto a parked car

experiment - line up morons that believe this and have them make the same jump

conclusions - TBD

Remember though, it's a theory until it has been proven false by everyone who believes it. No time to waste!

well, if Glenn Beck can claim that a flock of geese flying over his rally in DC is a "Clear Sign From God," then this guy has a strong case, I suppose. :\

Experiment needs to be double blinded, have 1 control group with Rosary beads, another without. Also you'll need sufficient numbers of Volunteers to achieve statistical relevance.
