Was afraid I'd brick it, figured I'd just scrounge another used one if I did.

Tethering rocks...

Multitouch is sweet too.

Good job. My interest in my G1 went way up when I rooted it. Cyanogen's ROMs kick ass if you haven't tried it yet.

Am using Cyanogen's 4.2.13

Am very impressed. I think I'm going to stay with my G1 for some time, hell for the price, I'll skip the current generation of phones and look for the next, or pick up a Nexus One when the next big thing comes out and root it.

Root is the only way to go with Android. Wireless tether is a must have application and works phenomenally well on a rooted Mytouch/G1/Nexus...

One of the anesthesiologists I work with mods his phones, he saw my home screen and started talking to me about how he mods his phones with roms from XDA's web site :)

Anyone know how TMobile treats unauthorized tethering?

I'd hate to have them shut down my account...

i used it for about a week while waiting for time warner to install. total usage was around 650mb (browsing and email) and they didn't say a thing.

i'm not even sure if tmobile is able to tell that you are tethering.

If you use one of Cynogen's ROMs, do you have to update it all over again each time Google releases a new update? I know it's rare, but just curious.

We can all see the WIfi signal meter instead of it saying 3G, so nice try yet again.

interestingly enough, i think the relatively slow cpu in my g1 limits bandwidth, since even on wifi i get at most 4 mbps on a 20mbps connection.

pliablemoose...can you try it out on wifi and post your results?

how do we know if vshah is using WIFI for speed test???

I think you mean Moose, since vshah hasn't posted any speed tests, and in that case, we know because his screenshot clearly shows the ISP as being T-Mobile.
