Root problems under suse 10

I have Suse linux 10. Suse 10 has been running perfectly for about a month or 2. Now out of the blue it has started taking forever for me to sign in as root and yes, even in the terminal . WHen i want to get into Yast, it will take a good min or 2 for me to get into it after i type in the password. From there, whenever i click on an icon inside Yast, it takes another minuet for it to open the program. What went wrong? I was messing with the NFS client before all of this started happening? What could i have done? How do I solve this issue? Please help.

That's kinda weird. Not sure what's up with that.

Is DMA enabled on your hard drive? Try the top command to see what the processes are doing.
