My mother had her teeth done in her home country in Romania. She was going there on vacation so she paid like $300 bucks for fillings and a crowns. Her teeth are pretty decent according to what she tells me that people say to her.

I'll have to go and look for an endodontist even though the dentist I went to also does root canals. Maybe with an endodontist they will numb me properly.

I'm hoping the root canal will work this time as I really will have issues paying for an implant.

My dentist this past winter recommended that I get my wisdom teeth extracted and two root canals with crowns. I went to a specialist to get my wisdom teeth pulled and asked him about the root canals. He told me that he stopped doing root canals but he would go to an endodontist. Why go to a dentist when you can go to a guy that does nothing but root canals. The endodontist I went to gave me a completely pain free root canal once the local set in. He also told me that I might get away with a filling on the other root canal. I'm getting the filling when I get my crown put in but hopefully I won't need the root canal.

So yeah, at the very least you will get a second opinion and you get someone who concentrates on the exact procedure you need done. I'm on an HMO so it doesn't cost me extra to go to specialists.

Yea my general dentist prices for root canal and extraction were a lot less than the endodontist. Despite my root canal resulted in a abscess being formed on the skin of my face near my jaw, and I also had to go to an oral surgeon because antibiotics didn't do anything, the root canal was completely painless. It was mostly pressure and grinding even the anesthesia with the needle didn't hurt.

But when the oral surgeon had to cut my face to drain the abscess, my God did that hurt. He didn't use novacane on the skin he stuck a needle with anesthetic in the pimple/boil itself and applied it then again inside my mouth by my gum.

The pain was really really bad and my neck and face downward are still aching.
