Oh-kay...wanna play name games?

You're a fucking moron. If you sleep through 3 alarm clocks, either there's something medically wrong with you, or you're just personally too lazy to respond to them.
I've lived for years on 4-5 hours of sleep per night...Some people have no problem hearing alarm clocks, while others have to TRAIN themselves to hear and wake up with an alarm.
People aren't naturally deaf to alarm clocks. ( well some folks are completely deaf, but that's different)
Yes, some people sleep deeply and need a loud alarm, but all it takes is personal discipline (and maybe a swift kick a few times) to learn to hear that alarm clock.
Sounds like maybe mommy has woken some of you up for too many years...

my point exactly. many people have medical problems that make them sleep deeply and unsoundly making it extremely hard to wake up, even to the loudest of alarms, and multiple alarms. on top of that, people can have problems hearing the alarm. it is very easy to become used to the sound(s). i used to not be able to sleep an ounce if there was any noise at all in my room. i now sleep with multiple computers buzzing all night with loud ass fans. ive also tried to use an MP3 alarm clock playing the loudest death metal ive got to wake me up. it worked great for about 4 weeks and then i just stopped waking up to it. and it isn't the same song every time either.

on top of that...your stupid 'train' method makes no sense. how the hell are you supposed to train yourself to wake up if you are asleep? many people live alone or with roommates who have no obligation to help...

mommy hasn't helped me wake up since 6th grade and I've been having this problem my entire life. even when she did wake me up it took her violently shaking me or pouring water on me to get me to wake up.

you need to get over yourself and your 'everything can be solved with one simple solution' bullshit mindset.

I still say you can train yourself to wake up to an alarm clock. You might need to change the time to fit your sleep cycles, (reference link above) and get up a bit earlier or later than the time you think is right...Myself, I learned with a screaming Drill Instructor beating on a galvanized trash can. Between that and spending 2 years in Vietnam, I wake up easily...
Over the years, I've trained myself to get up with my alarm clock, and often wake just before it goes off, even when I'm dog-tired and only had a couple of hours sleep.
Believe it or not, you CAN "learn" to hear your alarm and wake up to one...but it takes work.

I have the same problem. I can sleep through any alarm. Doesn't matter if I went to bed early. I shut them off without knowing it... I sleep through them if I don't shut them off. I've tried putting them across the room, but that also doesn't help in waking me up. I've put my cell on vibrate and stuck it under my pillow, but with the way I sleep, that didn't work out.

Even if I go to bed at a reasonable hour, or try to match my sleep cycles, I usually toss and turn in bed for hours (2 - 3) before I am able to fall asleep... sometimes I'm awake until 4, but thats usually when I get pissed off at myself.

Hook your pc up to a loud stereo, create a scheduled task for your wake up call, have it play Soundgarden's Rusty Cage at a loud volume, no way you can sleep through that unless you are deaf.

I agree, once he learns to associate pain with the sound of alarm clocks, he will wake up much faster. You could also use a taser.

You should try out one of those helicopter alarm clocks. When the alarm goes off, a small helicopter takes off and flies around the room making noises. It wont stop until you physically get out of bed, catch it, and place it back on the clock console.

It's a pretty cool gadget.

Yeah, my roommate used to sleep through alarms, once I threatened to get to a taser he started waking up.

I've found that if I set it in my mind that I need to be waken up by this alarm I usually will. I use to beable to sleep through some loud ones, but now I can wake up to my watch alarm.

Not sure if it is true but I have heard of alarm clocks that flash a bright light (like a strobe effect) before and while going off. Supposedly it helps wake you up from deep sleep.

True or not, I don't know.
