Look, it took him 9 months to give you back *some* of what he took, you are not going to see any money from this punk.

So, you can either
A. Do nothing.
B. Tell him to pay up, which IMO, he will not do.
C. "Borrow" something of his of equal value and "use it" (Read: destroy it), and give it back no earlier then 6 months later.

Famous quotes that you may want to use.

"An eye for an eye"

"Payback's a b1tch!"

You can actually take something you want! Does he have anything useful worth $80?

ruin something of his that is of less value, then ask him for your money. If he refuses, ruin something else of lesser value of him and ask again. Keep reminding him that he ruined something of yours that cost $120 (3 tables x $40)

No, screw that. That is something you would do if you're either a pansy or a child.

Confront him like a man... tell him to make it right, and if he doesn't, beat his ars. Simple as that.

Its your own fault, sorry.

If he's 3 minutes away, why not just show up and take it back. You waited 9 months...

So if I took something of yours and didn't bring it back even when you asked me every week, and when you got them back they were ruined, it'd be your fault, right?

I'd like to be your friend.

See, there's a thing called initiative. If you want to sit back and make phone calls, be my guest. But if you really cared about your property, you would've made a stronger atempt in the 9 month period to get your stuff back...

So your friend/roommate took your stuff, left them somewhere, and returned part of it that was destroyed? And he didn't even pay you for it? Doesn't sound like a friend.

I can't believe all the sissys on this forum that cry "call the police" everytime there's some minor dispute. Just ask him for the money for about a month... if you pay him for rent and bills, deduct it out of what you owe if he doesn't pay you back. If he pays you for rent and bills tack it on all at once, or start creatively adding on extra every month. If neither of those work, then just steal something of ~ equal value so that your satisfied and be done with it. I think the men in blue have better things to do than deal w/ every ball-less ATOTers crying when they can't solve a situation themselves (not necessarily a comment about the original poster).

You didn't ask him in the "right manner", apparently, if you waited 9 months...just go borrow something of his and be mature about it, beat the sh*t out of it and superglue it to his floor. That situation would piss me off, but I would demand it back the day after he used it...you let him think it was okay by waiting.

Good luck with that. You should borrow his car "w/o asking" and go pick up your tables from whatever house they're in "w/o asking".

Kill his dog, send him pictures. Kidnap his family, and remove one finger for each day he doesn't pay.

Then when he does show up with the money, hit him with a tire iron.

Demand $80 from him. If he doesn't pay up, sell his stuff without his permission until you gather $80.

The tables cost you $80. $80 that you worked hard to obtain, I'm sure. $80 of YOUR money. He took them without permission, he is 100% responsible for them. You tell him that he's now the owner of 3 slightly used tables, that you want $80, or the tables replaced and if he doesn't care/doesn't go for it, then you start locking your stuff up and just toss some of his stuff outside to be stolen. See how he likes it when people let strangers take his stuff and do god knows what with it and never return it. See how he likes it when he doesn't get the pleasure of enjoying something he worked to pay for. This is downright rude and shouldn't fly.

He should either pay you full purchase price ($80) or replace with brand new tables like the old/ruined ones.

[Seeing those 3's in the original post had me somehow thinking there were three tables!]

Simple, his car can transport them and mine can't. It's waaayyy too far to go walk down the street with a table. I didn't wait 9 months, I asked him EVERY weekend to bring them back.

So "borrow" his car and go get them. He "borrowed" your tables, all is fair.
