Roomba Discovery for $179 at Home Depot

Gooberlx2

Lifer
Saw the roomba discovery for $179, clearanced down from $197 which is down from $279 retail (IIRC) at Home Depot last night.

I really want one of these...parents got the discovery schedular for Xmas, and I was quite impressed with it's abilities (so long as the room is roomba-fied = no thick rugs with frilly ends it can get caught on).

Methinks I should shower (today's my Saturday) and go pick one up. It's a pretty decent price for a new one.

Not a bad price. I just picked the same one up about 2 weeks ago from Amazon. They had refurbished ones for $134 shipped. The darn thing really does a pretty decient job. The only PITA is moving all the wires off the floor and the fact that it's a little on the noisy side, but not near as loud a regular vacumn. The darn thing even comes with a remote so you can do some RC'ing.

I have been wanting one of these. Anyone else use one on a regualr basis? Does it work well?

Works well enough on a regular basis. Actually gets me to keep my apartment cleaner then usual because I can't have stuff laying around on the floor.

my folks sold theirs in a garage sale

Did they have this or the original Roomba Red? Some user reviews I've read have noted that there's much difference between the two and their abilities.

I think Amazon still has it for about $150 or so -- I think you if you can use their $25 off $125 coupon which would make it better.

Pretty slick that you can probably find the scheduling accessory elsewhere for cheap and have a scheduling roomba then for well under the actual Roomba Scheduler's retail (which is something like $329).

Seems most people like them, but there's always a few bad reviews. My wife has wanted one for a long time, but I remain a little skepticle.

Where are they selling these? I called 4 local ODs here in RTP NC, they are like Roo... what?? They have no idea what it is. I've been looking for Discovery under $200 for some time. BJ's had one model for 199 but its not Discovery, some older model.

I got one from the amazon deal for the refurb for $134

Used it 3 days and it went right back to amazon..

It would just stoped and a red light would flash randomly..

maybe because it was a refurb? not sure..
Don't plan on getting another one any time in the fututre

My mom got one and she has been pleased with it. She bought one for me and it is in the USPS on its way to me now. Feel free to send me a message if you want my opinions in a few weeks about how it performs.

Mine works quite well on our hardwood floor. Picks up all kinds of little bits and grits that get stuck into your feet. Now the floor is nice and clean. My friend's had a harder time with his dog's hair, but his floor is slightly textured as well; which I think makes it significantly harder for any vacuum to deal with.

They are semi-random. There is a pattern...but damned if I can figure it out.
