my house is hot in the summer.

i've been told that getting a roof fan will cool it down ALOT.

Home Depot's Pro1 can move 1000 cfm of air.

other options are the Pro2 (1250 cfm) and the Pro3 (1600 cfm).

Home Depot

My objective is to save $. A cooler house = less A/C = lower electric bill.

but if i buy too big of a fan, i waste $ on electricity.

Pro3 seems like overkill.

Which would you choose, and why?

edit:
anyone know how big is my attic, given my specs in the msg summary?

Is that supposed to link to the fans in question? I don't see them.
I'm thinking about one of these too.

well...heres the thing. A roof fan will draw the hot air out of your attic...making the top floor a bit cooler. A good investment is a Whole House fan...which sucks air from the....whole house..up into the attic. It really helps circulate the air better...but AC is a lot easier. THe attic fan we have DOES keep the top floor a little cooler...but it still hot as hell up there with no AC or whole house fan

Do you suffient soffit vents (the ones by the eves) to suck cool air into the attic?

If you don't have enough, then installing them could make all the difference without installing a fan.

BTW-what is the sq. ft. of the attic?

I would install a whole house fan. In fact, I will probably install one of those very soon.

Some say they use more energy than they save. Maybe the money could be spent on more insulation in the attic?
