Ronna McDaniel, R.N.C. Chairwoman, Plans to Step Down

Donald Trump is likely to back an election denier, Michael Whatley, the head of the North Carolina G.O.P., to replace her.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/06/us/politics/ronna-mcdaniel-rnc-trump.html/

The chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, has told former President Donald J. Trump she is planning to step down shortly after the South Carolina primary on Feb. 24, according to two people familiar with the plans.

Mr. Trump is then likely to promote the chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, Michael Whatley, as her replacement, according to several people familiar with the discussions. Under the arcana of the committee’s rules, however, Mr. Trump cannot simply install someone, and a new election must take place.

Ms. McDaniel has faced months of pressure, a campaign from Trump-allied forces to unseat her and growing dissatisfaction and anxiety in the Trump camp about the strained finances of the R.N.C. as the general election cycle begins early.

Mr. Trump likes Mr. Whatley for one overwhelming reason, according to people who have discussed him with the former president: He is “a stop the steal guy,” as one of the people described him. He endorses Mr. Trump’s false claims about mass voter fraud and Mr. Trump believes he did a good job delivering North Carolina, a 2020 swing state, to him.

May this personnel decision be of Trump's usual caliber and totally screw things up.

excellent news. craters the relevance of the GQP even longer, removes another raging thunder cvnt from the NC house (though in NC, most likely to be replaced by some sort of homunculus pried from a mud-pile infused with the blood leaking from Trump's prolapsed anus)

I'm so surprised, just yesterday Trump says that they need to have a talk. Of course she's gone because Nikkie's still walking around like a candidate.

I wonder if she'll put the "Romney" back in her name???
Didn't realize that earlier, but if I was Mitt, I wouldn't allow it. :tearsofjoy:

MSNBC talent is up in arms at her hiring.

A representative for NBC News said Monday there was no change in her status. But people familiar with the situation who are not authorized to comment publicly said McDaniel will probably be out before she even begins.

Rachel Maddow, MSNBC’s biggest star, also asked NBC News management to reverse the decision.

“The fact that McDaniel is on the payroll at NBC News — to me that is inexplicable,” Maddow said on her program. “You wouldn’t hire a wise guy, you wouldn’t hire a made man, like a mobster to work in a D.A.’s office.”

She's an election denier. Why the fuck would NBC hire someone like that. It would be like hiring gym jordan to give political commentary.
My guess is that corporate executives got where they are the same way Donald Trump did, essentially by not being human. They have trained themselves to be masters of competing for the all mighty dollar. The left handed inclinations among the general population driven by unconscious self hate propel a fixation on all manner of purulent manifestations and TV execs know by long practice, that where there's a food fight to be witnessed, there's money to be made by its staging. The traumatized are magnetized by horror.

They aren't going to keep her - she's done. That being said once they decide to can her conservatives will claim censorship and that NBC is cancelling her for being a conservative as opposed to them canning her because she's a giant liar who tried to end democracy.

Yeah, I assume so. I don't think most conservatives really care about her at all though.

I completely agree they don't give a single solitary shit about her. What they DO care about is finding reasons to pretend they are victims, which they will do here.

There is nothing on this earth American conservatives love more than whining about how picked on they are.

Those cable news outlets are jokes, all of them. Fox of course is pure propaganda, but they all suck. I'm guessing this traitorous twit was going to be an "on the Right" buffoon just like Fox had that leftie moron getting lampooned every segment (or at least, someone playing a leftie moron...all this stuff is just performance art).

Dropped cable news more than 15 years ago and my stress levels dropped accordingly. That crap is designed to amp you up and contains very little of substance. Their written articles (even Fox) can be better, though Fox hides certain headlines way down the list if it shows any Rightie in a poor light. The others don't care, they just want eyeballs.

They should just do what Fox does regarding someone who is good but doesn’t fit what they want to report on.
Keep her on staff, never give her airtime or writing privileges.

Apparently they fired 13 investigative reporters to make the numbers work with Ronna McDaniel.

They should hire them back and more after firing the clown who hired her.

They’re still paying her. Don’t kid yourself, someone requiring that wage certainly cannot just be “fired”

Well someone who hired her can certainly be fired.. and I'm willing to bet they'll be on a bigger salary than Ronna.

Well in all fairness she didn’t do anything AFTER her contract to be fired. They are firing her for being a piece of shit before the contract.

NBC is still going to have to pay her. It’s good that they corrected their giant mistake though.

-I wish I was a big enough piece of shit to get fired and also get paid millions of dollars at the same time.

I've only ever been enough of an asshole to be fired from hourly work...
