Ronald Reagan...socialist???

Reagan raised taxes almost a dozen times. Tell that to any current GOP Reagan worshiper and you'll either get to watch their world shatter before your very eyes or be met with a non-stop flurry of "nuh uh"s.

Think for a moment, what was wrong with Bush?

Now picture who his inspiration was. Reagan. Big government Neocons look to Reagan as their spitting image.

I also thought they were in love with the UBER failure of the "Trickle on" theory too?

riddle me this... if Reagan proposed some terrible ideas, why are they better coming out of Obama's mouth?

Judging by the number of times the GOP candidates bent over backwards to mention/compare themselves to Ronald Reagan no Republican would ever say he had a bad idea.

So the idea was good until......oh well

I read a pretty persuasive article once on Dailykos that said Reagan, Nixon and of course Eisenhower was left of Obama.

but if I'm a liberal and always thought that Reagan had bad ideas... shouldn't this be concerning to me?

Yeah Reagan was as much a borrow and spend liberal as any other. They're all borrow-and-spend liberals. Those with their ideology just happen to own the media, so they are able to fool the dumb-as-box-of-rocks public into thinking that one of the two borrow-and-spend political parties is actually conservative.

If Reagan ran as a politician today, he would be considered too leftwing for Today's GOP

No, the GOP loves him. Hence Bush, McCain, Romney. It's the Tea Party alone that stands against big government Neocons. The rest of the GOP wants their pay day.

And we watch as both parties pour gas over the nation and set the fire. Pass the violins, Rome burns again.

Ronnie worship replaces the man and his legacy with myth & legend.

In many respects, he was more of a propaganda construct than a real person even when alive.

I had no respect for Reagan. In that regard he and Obama are the same. He's all smoke and mirrors, and Romney? Why should he be any better? Even the "buffet rule" is an election ploy. What today's scoundrel in chief isn't saying can be found here.

Some truth for a change.

If someone from DC says anything assume it's a lie.

That of course excludes regressive payroll taxes, convenient tactic of the right.
If they were paying the highest tax rates for real, they would have no problem paying at least 30%, which is what upper middle class pays.

I used to always giggle when people would go on and on about Obama being "The Annointed one" or whatever bullshit it was that day and then immediately transition into a verbal fellatio of RR.

What's your problem w/ it. I learned a long time ago you never want earned income. It's still amazing to me that actually working, a productive activity, you pay much more than passively collecting income. Hell you can bet against production, sell short, and get this massive tax break to your income. I have no problem flattening out tax rate so Buffet pays same as Kobe Bryant. Kobe pays about double now.

Heh. The Tea Party would dry up & blow away if it weren't for Faux News fluffery of their Faux events, and Koch Bros money, of course.

If it weren't for teh ebil big gubmint, America would have reverted to the ancient regime of Lords & Serfs, just with different titles of inherited nobility. Chairman, Board member, Director & so forth would just replace terms like Duke and Earl, but the effect would be the same.

Turn on the Wayback machine, take us to 1524. You'll love it there.

OK, I read that. What is it saying that is different than what the "scoundrel in chief" is saying? Why do I somehow have the same understanding of the Buffett rule that I came away with after hearing Obama discuss it?

If your single and make like 100K you'll pay 3x tax rate as buffet when you add them all up and after taxes such as sales, excise, registration, property etc.
